To My Dorothy (1975)

A family poem by Mike — faithfully transcribed and preserved.

Typed transcription

As evening darkness earlier descends,
And songbirds fly to stay with other friends,
This birthday verse I know is overdue,
But happily the words still flow for you.

Cast aside the sighs for yesteryears,
Prepare for future planning yet to share,
Though I may flag or alter, you will heed,
As always, to my every need.

And so my friend, my girl, my wife,
You who shared and enriched most of life,
Tho’ a little older — I love you,
Always have, always will, always do.
